Although the worlds climate has warmed by an average of less than 1oC in the last fifty years it is more than likely adding to the number of extreme weather events.
The temperature is predicted to rise by a further 3oC in the next sixty years.
Unfortunately the Arctic is warming far quicker than the rest of the planet, ice that once reflected sunlight is now replaced by black sea that increases absorption.
Due to the cooling effect of melting ice the Arctic jet stream now fluctuates wildly bringing cold air from the North or heat from the South. Previously, the upward air movement generated from the warm water, combined with the rotation of the Earth created a boundary curtain, similar to an air-curtain in a shop doorway.
